Initial Visit
We will perform a full exam using state of the art equipment to diagnose your condition.
We will discuss the best procedures and options with you. Patient Health and Customer Care are Dr. Smile’s primary concerns.
Root Canal Therapy
Sometimes deep cavities or a blow to the tooth cause bacteria to get into the pulp chamber. This causes the tooth or nerve to become infected.
Root Canal Therapy is the procedure to remove the infected tissue and replace it with a filling material. A crown is then bonded onto the tooth to repair your smile.
Apioectomy
If the Root Canal Therapy does not completely heal the infected tooth, a minor surgical procedure called an Apicoectomy may be performed.
To stop infection, your dentist makes a small incision in the gums, removes the infected material and seals the tip of the root.
Cracked Tooth Syndrome
You may have discomfort, sensitivity or pain caused by an incomplete fracture or cracked tooth. Cracks happen due to normal wear and tear or can be caused by a sharp blow to the tooth.
Post and Core: Repairing a Broken Tooth
Sometimes a tooth breaks and there isn’t enough left to add a crown.
When this happens, your dentist can perform a Root Canal and insert a post into the filling material. After the post is solidly in place, new core material is prepared and shaped. A temporary crown is then inserted.
On your next visit, the temporary crown is replaced with the permanent crown.
Esthetic Dentistry
We offer several state of the art options to repair common oral problems and improve your smile.
Bridges
Bridges replace missing teeth, filling in gaps and improving your smile and self confidence. They can be made with a combination of metal and porcelain or with all porcelain. Bridges made with metal and porcelain are less expensive but will show a line just below the gums. Bridges made completely with porcelain eliminate the line and are healthier for your teeth and gums.
Silver Fillings
Silver fillings are noticeable, unattractive and do not help restore strength to damaged teeth. They also wear down, crack and will need repair or replacement. Silver filling will cost you more time and money in the long run.
Resin Fillings
Resin fillings restore strength and wear like natural teeth. They contain floride to help prevent decay. Resin fillings cost a little more initially, but last longer than silver fillings. They also look natural – giving you a terrific smile!
Dentures
We custom design Full Upper, Full Lower, Partial Upper, Partial Lower, Precision Partial and Overdentures depending on your individual needs.
TMD (TMJ)
Temporomadibular Dysfunction is an imbalance between chewing muscles, jaw joints and teeth. Symptoms can include headaches, sensitive teeth, earaches, difficulty opening and closing mouth, jaw pain or stiffness, pain in the face, neck or shoulder muscles.
This condition is caused by clenching or grinding the teeth, a bad bite (occlusion), injury to the joint or arthritis.
Abfraction
Notches in tooth structure near or under the gum line. This is caused by improper forces on the teeth such as a bad bite (occlusion), clenching or grinding the teeth.
Bruxism
Clenching or grinding teeth during sleep. This can cause flattened, worn down teeth, broken teeth, cracked teeth, chipped teeth at gum line (see Abfraction) or damage to jaw joint.
Equilibration
Equilibration is the procedure to adjust patient’s bite (Occlusion) by removing small layers of chewing surface until teeth come together comfortably and evenly.
NTI
Migraines and constant tension headaches can be caused by clenching teeth. A special device can be worn to suppress jaw clenching and relieve headaches.
NMD (Neuromuscular Dentistry)
Neuromuscular Dentistry focuses on the relationship between teeth, muscles, nerves and jaw joints.
Diagnodent
Diagnodent is a special laser light used to find decay under the layer of teeth. This allows the Dentist to find decay earlier and in difficult to spot locations.
Digital X-ray
We can use computer programs and technology to capture an image of your teeth. This is faster than traditional x-rays and images can be enhanced, stored and retrieved.
Intraoral Camera
An Intraoral Camera allows us to see a close up view of your mouth. Images can be printed, stored and e-mailed to experts for evaluation.
Air Abrasion
This process is used to clean and prepare teeth. Air Abrasion has no vibration, minimal heat generation, and allows maximum tooth strength with minimal tooth reduction. It’s a quick, quiet and comfortable procedure.
Cerec Cad/Cam
This state of the art process provides extremely accurate restorations in just one appointment.
CompuDent
CompuDent provides optimal delivery of dental anesthesia, making your visit more pleasant.
Dental Lasers
Dental Lasers allow very precise treatment of oral tissues. Lasers work quietly with no whining or vibration. The lasers insure there is minimal bleeding and swelling and patient requires little or no anesthesia. Using lasers speed the healing process and reduce risk of infection.
